Hey, viewers! Thanks for all the comments on my previous blog; I will keep them at heart. On Saturday, Arthur and I were just hanging out when he suddenly said, "Hey, Andrew, why not post about teenagers in your blog? It'll be interesting." Sure enough, today's post will be based upon the current morals and views of the teenage generation.

As, I have stressed before, the media is increasingly becoming a major influence in everyone's lives through the television, internet, movies, radio, and books. People sheerly use these means of media as entertainment. However, thanks to the freedom of the press, a dark and immoral scenario entered the scene. The instruments that were only used for entertainment are now used for the spreading of violence, pornography, satanic messages, use of drugs, and other horrifying issues. The older generations are better at coping with this situation because they have actually seen the world and know of its secret horrors. However, the current teenagers are born into this fast-paced life where media determines even what people should wear. Therefore, most teenagers can not see the consequences of the many things that the media shows like pornography. Thus they will tend to argue over controversial issues like abortion and homosexuality according to where the popular majority of the media stands, being ignorant of the inner values of the truth.

I believe that one of the major reasons for many teenager's ignorance is their very own growth throughout the years. As they grow older, the adults that they once revered as smart and wise prove to be limited in some areas. Thus, the teenagers feel that they are smarter and can do better than the adults. Furthermore, these teenagers became rash in their thoughts and lose sight of the greater picture. As a teenager, I am still going through this too. Sometimes, I was extremely annoyed when my parents or my close adult friends, even Arthur, lecture me about what is right and wrong in this world. I naturally assumed that being myself, I know what is best for me.

In addition, I think that some adults are to be blamed also for the ignorance of the new generation. The media problem did not happen overnight. It took years and years for it to reach such a state. The older generations should have been clearly aware of the change since they were clearly present during that time. However, instead of setting an example for the younger ones, they decided to actually follow the media along and continue their bad and immoral habits.

Even in my school, Stuyvesant High School, there are simplified versions of how ignorant teenagers are. There are students gambling in the corners, most of which are cutting classes. When asked why, they simply said that they didn't feel like it. In addition, some use cigarettes and drugs to ease their stress in school. It also saddens me greatly that because many of the students there are skilled in science, they deny the divine existence of God merely because they say that He is just an illusion of the human mind.

I am sure that this topic is far from over. I will continue to voice my opinion about this generation's corruption in this blog.

Welcome back, viewers. I am sure that you all noticed from the cartoon above that the person speaking is none other than the famous fantasy character, Harry Potter. There are currently more than 103 million copies of the books in just America (as cited from the website of Scholastic).

As I have mentioned yesterday, one of the fairly new but dark themes that are introduced in the media today is sorcery, or better known as Magic. Thanks to Harry Potter, magic now has a much greater interest from the population. Now, I am not trying to denounce J.K. Rowling about her writing ideas. Her books allow children to explore a whole new different world with their imagination while reading, instead of playing video games. However, she has undoubtedly chose a topic which has dangers and consequences that she is clearly ignorant about.

Magic is an "art" that manipulates unnatural powers that humans should not ever be meddling with. Every bit of it is a work of the Devil. Now, friends, you are probably thinking in your head: "What about WHITE magic, dumbass? Black Magic is evil but what about magic that heals? Explain that!" Well, I have a question for you: Would God work against Hiself? He lets everything happen for a reason, even disease and pain. They are there to test our faith in Him. They are neccessary trials that must be undertaken so that we can grow and truly understand His glorious plans. Only Satan and his devils will meddle in His plans. Now, aren't these white magicians meddling with God's will when they are promising relief from sufferings and difficulties, tests that are most certainly placed by God? Therefore, we can associate all forms of magic with Satan.

This issue wouldn't have been such a big problem if only the media hadn't started to expand the idea that magic is good and if everyone knew "white" magic, the world will be so much a better place. Thanks to J.K. Rowling and various other authors, the younger generations are seeing magic in a good, but false, light. Children are eager to learn. Nowadays, their eagerness can be filled by wondering and researching topics that are presented on the internet, books, and television. They are still young and can not comprehend the evils and dangers that may lie under that golden suface. I am not saying to abolish television, books, and the internet. What i'm saying is that the older generations should always help the newer ones evaluate of what is dangerous and evil and what is not.

Welcome to my humble blog, viewers. I sincerely hope that all of you will enjoy your stay here. Well, I AM supposed to say that since its wrong to will any harm to anyone. It's only annoying when its coming from the Flight Attendants. I mean, they always place on that smile and have that look which really means: look, I made a bad career move when I got out of high school and now I'm a waiter at a bad restaurant a couple miles from the ground. And I still have to serve people like you. Anyways, back to my introduction.

As you can see from my blog title, I am a catholic teenager. However, I strive to be different from the current catholic teenagers that I know of. Nowadays, most teenagers are really into a more materialistic world and the media. This was not a sudden change. Over the generations, people started to rely more and more on the media during their daily lives. At first, the media via television and internet only served as a spreading of ideas but over the past few years, the media had become a major influence on people's daily lives. And then the issues of sex, money, and violence kicked in. The next generation was born into the time period of such changes and became too influenced by the media. This only gets worse as time progresses. Newer, darker themes are presented in the media such as satanic messages, magic, and gothic views.

That is all for now!

Oh, by the way, That cartoon is found on this link: http://www.catholic.org/ae/cartoons.php?cartoon=11
